Fun in Georgia

Georgia Tech hosted the Gamecock Sailing dinghy team this past weekend at the 3rd North Points event of the season. Once we made it to Georgia, the team met Coach David and his wife Allison for dinner then camped on Lake Lanier for the night. We were the first team up and ate breakfast before the skipper’s meeting. The course was a windward-leeward with an open gate alternating once or twice around depending on the wind. As a whole, we tied for 5th with UNCW resulting in a 6th place. Margaux and Ian had a first place in A fleet! Mackey and Ashley were consistently top 5 in B fleet.

Back in Columbia we have a buffed and shiny fleet of eight 420s in a row. After a lot of dedicated boatwork, each 420 has uniformed lines and halyards as well as brand new sails. Each have designated colors for team racing and a 36 inch Gamecock proudly displayed on each main. Both the mains and jibs have new sheets to go with them and we cannot wait to host 7 teams at our invitational April 2nd!
