Stylish Sailors in St. Petersburg
A handful of Gamecock Sailors traveled to beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida this weekend to attend the SAISA Open hosted by Eckerd College. 18 teams from North and South SAISA attended and it was great catching up with friends from other teams. The team tackled the 8 hour drive to Florida and started the first day with optimism and funky trunks. Arriving in style, Mackey Leventis and Ashley Thess sailed B fleet with matching splatter paint board shorts ready to take SAISA by storm. Sailing A fleet was skipper Margaux Bacro-Duverger and crew Ian Christine. The slight shift in gears from 420s to FJs proved challenging; however, both A and B fleet persevered. There was light wind both days, resulting in an early end on Sunday. Gamecock Sailing placed 13th out of 18th overall. The weekend was a great learning opportunity for all 19 sailors present as well as a nice break before midterms kicked in!
