Camaraderie & Commitment
Gamecock Sailing has had an exciting start to the Spring semester with new sailors, halyards, and dedication to the upcoming season. New members are finding their place with ease as we welcome sailors of all experience levels. We have reunited with Coach David Van Cleef at our Tuesday and Thursday practices where we are focusing on fine tuning our racing skills and exploring skipper and crew combinations. It has been cold but sharing gear and facing the elements is all a part of the camaraderie and commitment built into our team. New workouts have been implemented by our Commodore and are focusing on toning primarily core and leg muscles. Teammates will contact each other and hit the gym to build fellowship and strength in preparation for our journey to championships. On the weekends we can be found on the water self critiquing and applying coach’s advice from the week’s debriefs. Everything is in preparation for our first regatta where we plan to outdo the hard work we put in last semester.
