Capsizes & Cookout
On Sunday we had a Capsizes & Cookout event for our club and team members. The weather was absolutely perfect to work on capsizing drills! Team member Mackey grilled up some burgers and hotdogs & we had ourselves a nice end of the year cookout. It was a marvelous way to wrap up a fantastic semester! Thanks to everyone who came out for it

Last Keelboat Clinic for the Semester
Couldn't have asked for a better day to have our last keelboat clinic before we all start studying for finals! It was great having team members try different roles on the J24 so they can continue learning for next semester. New Commodore Jack and Vice Commodore Alex are seen here teaching Jason how to trim spinnaker. As for the rest of the crew, Maddie helped work with Eric on hosting sails and understanding the spinnaker pole, and of course Jack Henjes was a phenomenal photo

Ashley & Brian Bennett
Here's our sailor Ashley hanging out with VX One designer Brian Bennett at this year's Charleston Race Week! Wicked cool!

End of the Semester Fun
With only two weeks of the semester remaining, the Gamecock Sailors are making the most out of the time we have left before seniors Ryan and Kate graduate! Between end of the year practices, club clinics, and our favorite event Capsizes & Cookouts coming up, we're wicked excited to end the semester on a high note :D

Thomas at CRW
Does that face look familiar? It should! That's our Fundraising chair, Thomas, sailing on Azura at this year's Charleston Race Week! Both him and new Commodore Jack Gonzales got the opportunity to race on Azura. The waves were outrageous but according to the boys it made for a fun weekend of sailing!

Charleston Race Week
Another successful Charleston Race Week in the books! It was great to see Gamecock Sailing have such a presence at the event between teammates sailing, volunteering, and watching the races. We had Ryan Lavisky sail on a J122 named Orion, Kate O'Donnell and Alex Myers sail on a J24 named USA 555, Thomas Kubic and Jack Gonzales on a Swan 56 named Azura, and Ashley Thess on a VX One named Vahine. Until next year CRW!

Co-Ed Championship Regatta
The Gamecock Sailors got the opportunity to travel back to sunny St. Petersburg to compete in the SAISA Co-ed championship regatta. They competed against very skilled teams and learned a lot from the experience. The rest of the team was back in Columbia cheering them on! It was a wonderful bonding experience to end our spring regatta season!

Fort 2 Battery
Lyndsay, Kathryn, and Maddie had a wicked time in Charleston this weekend for our club event watching the Fort 2 Battery race. The wind was awesome & the moths were a sight to see (and of course being on Bill Hanckel's boat is always a plus!) Thanks again for having us out on your boat Bill to watch the race! Check out the Fort 2 Battery Facebook page for more photos and race results: www.facebook.com/fort2battery

Gamecock Sailing Invitational
This past weekend, the Gamecock Sailors held a successful invitational at our home sailing club. We had some wonderful teams come out for the invitational, such as UGA, UT, NC State, and UNC Wilmington. The Gamecock Sailors had a varsity boat and a JV boat competing in each race. Big congrats to our Gamecock Sailors for coming in 1st & 3rd overall! Thanks to everyone who came out to race and volunteer, especially Columbia Sailing Club who not only provided food for everyone b
